Benoit finds himself in debt and once again has to ask his wealthy parents for help. His plan to get the money: to make them believe he’s marrying his model friend Emily. The young couple is invited to Morocco to meet the whole family. When Emily cancels her reservation on the way to the airport, Benoit decides to invite his chatty Uber driver Fiona instead. It’s just for the sake of it. Read more. I had the opportunity to see this film at a preview and I’m glad I didn’t have to pay for it, because it was really average. Let’s start with the worst part: the script is completely empty and the humor is just stupid, devoid of even a hint of wit. Vulgarity is everywhere, which wouldn’t be a problem if there was a bit of subtlety, but no, it’s just vulgarity for the sake of vulgarity, probably aimed at pleasing a certain type of audience. In short, there’s not much to say about this French comedy. Of course, Michèle Laroque and Gérard Darmon are experienced actors who have nothing left to prove, but what did they do during this disaster? A pleasant surprise is the male lead, whom I did not know before, but he plays solidly and adds some value to the film. Another thing I liked was the initial scenes with the kidnappers, which were well shot, but unfortunately the rest of the film was not realized.
